Relentless Beauty

The Relentless Beauty pieces are inspired by observations of the pressures on women to decorate themselves to enhance their appeal to others. Accepting that body decoration has a long history and is important and valued in many cultures and periods of history, there also exists an undercurrent of repressive exploitation. This manifestation has resulted in certain negative consequences—often for financial profit. While exploring my own sense of awareness and concern, I still want to honor a sense of ethereal “beauty” in these works, completed in 2020.
