Blueprints

In the late 1970’s and the 1980’s I decided to combine the linear blueprint process with half-tone screens from graphic arts photography, lending these images a removed, foggy character. The works are quite large (for blueprints) and were inspired by performance art which recently was emerging. The draped nude figure is engaged in sequenced “stories” in a variety of natural settings. The situations imply action and absurdity and represent my satirical take on the treatment of nude models in visual art classes. The contortionist figure and the draped figure are stand-ins for the female experience, metaphorically depicting the difficulties often encountered when women are gender-defined.
